How a passenger ship becomes an offshore supplier.
The energy production of the future is moving out into the rough sea. According to the federal government, several offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 15,000 megawatts are to be connected to the grid by 2030. The service companies, which are taking over the urgently needed maintenance work, are also facing new challenges. How, for example, can the fitters safely transfer from the service ships to the offshore wind turbines? This is the question one shipowner asks Gebr. Friedrich Schiffswerft. A passenger catamaran is to be converted into an offshore supplier. Together with the client, the designer and the classification societies, we develop a unique aluminium fender system within a very short time and convert the catamaran. After just a few weeks, the new offshore supplier is ready for operation and can carry out its tasks safely.
